Forum: etree Subject: Re: Old Live CassetteTapes???

I still think cassettes sound great if they are well-recorded. They sounded good to me back when I relied on them, and most of them still do!

If you have rare or uncirculated recordings on cassette, it would be great to get them into the digital realm. I use my digital recording gear to transfer cassette masters to FLAC and have been very satisfied with the results. Even after transferring, I do think it's important to keep the masters, though. Technology is likely to improve, and it might be possible to get a better transfer some day, right?

On the other hand, if the content of what you have can all be found somewhere else, I would not worry about them, unless it's something you'd like to transfer for yourself.
